Biak Island · Saireri · Papua, Indonesia
Papua is a garden of jungles and reefs.
We work alongside indigenous communities to keep it that way.
Growth across Papua is inevitable. Environmental destruction is not. Our work is to help communities prepare before pressure arrives.
“Conservation is not about stopping change. It is about helping communities prepare for change in ways that protect the forests, reefs, and cultures they depend on.”
Why Papua matters
One of Indonesia’s last regions with intact ecosystems.
Papua’s forests, reefs, and islands are living systems — not wilderness to leave alone, but home to communities who have stewarded them for generations. Development is accelerating. We help communities meet it on their own terms.
What we do
Five programs. One goal: communities deciding their own future.
Shark conservation, reef protection, sustainable fisheries, and stronger management of marine protected areas.
Supporting local and district regulations and community-led conservation frameworks that make community authority real.
Small-scale reef restoration that rebuilds habitat, supports education, and grows local stewardship.
Education, livelihoods, and capacity building — no handouts; outside support follows local initiative and ownership.
Promoting fast-growing, durable bamboo to reduce pressure on hardwood forests.
